Hello crafty friends! Bobbi Lemanski here wishing you all a very happy day and for the moms reading, a very joyous Mother’s Day! I love this time of the year because not only do we get to celebrate graduations, Mother’s Day and spring, we also get to see new birth of our perennials, trees, and our families. Today, let’s celebrate another joyful and beautiful springtime, Sunday! What’s more fitting than some vibrant butterflies to showcase a new birth of beauty and joy?! I’m using the following Honey Bee Stamps products, All Things New stamps and coordinating Honey Cuts dies
For the basics… my featured project below is made from Neenah 80lb Solar White cardstock for the card base and card front panel. All of the black ink stamping was done using Honey Bee’s Bee Creative Intense Black Ink. I use Honey Bee Stamps Bee Creative Precision Glue and for when I want more dimension, Bee Creative Foam Dots With Tab for adhering my elements together. My blender brushes (large and small) are a must for ink blending color on the background, too. For white highlights, I use my white Gelly Roll pen. My card is 5″ X 7″ in size.

To create this 5″ X 7″ card, I started by stamping, coloring and die cutting the butterflies from the All Things New stamps. I colored them using my Copic Sketch Markers in the following shades: V04, RV55, Y19, YR15, YR68, YR09, C5, C3, and C1. I added Bee Creative Foam Dots With Tab to the backs of the beauties and set them aside to work on the background.

Using a thin sheet of copy paper, I cut out the largest butterfly in the set and used the cutout as a stencil for the background. I blended Carved Pumpkin and Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide Ink on my card front background using my Honey Bee blender brushes (large and small). I allowed some of the butterflies to overlap for a bold background display. Once the ink dried, I used my Kuretake Watercolors and a fan-shaped watercolor brush to splatter on some black ink over the bright butterflies for high contrast. To achieve the larger droplets, I saturated my brush with more paint than water in the color mix. I set the background aside to fully dry.
Next, I stamped and die cut the sentiment from the same set. I attached the butterflies and the sentiment to the fully dried card front and attached the entire 5″ X 7″ design to a white card base to complete the card.
