Orange Citrus Gatefold Card by Bobbi Lemanski

Orange Citrus Gatefold Card by Bobbi Lemanski

This gatefold design is bursting with fresh citrus charm, featuring juicy oranges hanging from leafy vines and surrounded by delicate florals. A warm honeycomb print adds a touch of pattern and texture, while the lacy doily gatefold flaps bring an elegant, feminine finish. Open those lacy-looking gates to reveal a card that feels sunny, fresh, and full of delightful details! I'm using the following Honey Bee Stamps products:

For the basics... my Honey Bee Stamps featured project below is made from Neenah 80lb Solar White cardstock for the card base and card front panel. All of the black ink stamping was done using Honey Bee’s Bee Creative Intense Black Ink. I use Honey Bee Stamps Bee Creative Precision Glue and for when I want more dimension, Bee Creative Foam Honeycomb Foam for adhering my elements together. My blender brushes (large and small) are a must for ink blending color on the background, too. For white highlights, I use my white acrylic pen. My card is 5" X 7" in size.

To make this 5"  X 7" gatefold card, I cut a 5" X 7" piece of white cardstock and honeycomb print pattern paper for the back of the card. I also cut a smaller, 4-1/2" wide X 6" tall piece of gray and green floral paper from the same Summer Picnic Paper Pad.

I die cut the two gatefold flaps from white cardstock using the Christmas In July A2 Cardmaking Kit dies. I blended some Antique Linen Distress Oxide Ink on the edges. Using a Copic E47 marker, I added the brown finishing touches to the scallop design patterns.

Using the Lovely Layers: Citrus Honey Cuts Dies, I die cut various oranges from orange, yellow and white cardstock. I also die cut the leaves from a sage green cardstock, flowers from an ivory cardstock and branches from a brown cardstock. I blended on Mustard Seed Distress Oxide Ink to the centers of the flower petals and used YR23 and Y18 to color the actual  centers. To make two-color leaves, I blended Rustic Wilderness Distress Oxide Ink on part of the sage cardstock, splattered it all with dark green watercolor paint and let it dry. I wanted the leaves to be two colors of green for a more realistic look.

For the oranges, I used Distress Oxide Inks to color them in various shades of orange. I used the Crackling Campfire Distress Oxide Ink for the darkest ones and Spiced Marmalade for shading the lighter colors. I also splattered on orange and brown watercolor paint and white acrylic ink to make them less perfect looking and more organic.

Next, I assembled the card. Watch my REEL on Instagram to see me assemble the card in less than 2 minutes! I assembled the layers for the background, adding the gatefold flaps using double-sided tape on the sides and sandwiching the scored flaps between the back white layer and the honeycomb pattern layer.

I attached the oranges, branches and flowers to the gatefold flaps using the Bee Creative Foam Honeycomb Foam and Honey Bee Stamps Bee Creative Precision Glue. To start the process, I overlapped two large oranges in the centers of the flaps and added a Velcro closure in the overlapping section. This closure will keep the card closed.

Inside the card, I added three sentiments from the Picked With Love stamp set and coordinating Honey Cuts dies. I positioned them so that you could see them from the outside of the card. It's like they are peeking out at top. Next, using a few extra flowers that I had left over, I attached them, cascading down the inside of the card.
