Hello crafters! I have some brand new products to share with you, today! My featured project was made using products from the "Maker's Mix" release by Honey Bee Stamps. From painting and cardmaking to embroidering and sewing, this release has something for all crafters! While I am mainly a cardmaker these days, I appreciate and love all crafts. I love to paint abstracts, but I also used to sew a bit. For this card, I combined both crafts. I got out my trusty Elna sewing machine and sewed on my card for some very real detailing. No worries if you don't have a machine, faux stitching with a gel pen or marker works great, too! My 5" X 7" card features the following new products:
Lovely Layers: Antique Sewing Machine Honey Cuts dies
Lovely Layers: Stitching Elements Honey Cuts dies
In Stitches: Heart Honey Cuts dies
Sew Glad stamp set and coordinating Honey Cuts dies
Happy Hearts Gingham Paper Pad
Happy Hearts Pattern Paper Pad (similar to the one I used)
FREE BEE Paper Pack (Background lace) Free with qualifying orders of $100 or more!
For the basics... my featured project below is made from Neenah 80lb Solar White cardstock for the card base and card front panel. All of the black ink stamping was done using Honey Bee’s Bee Creative Intense Black Ink. I use Honey Bee Stamps Bee Creative Precision Glue and for when I want more dimension, Bee Creative Foam Dots With Tab for adhering my elements together. My blender brushes (large and small) are a must for ink blending color on the background, too. For white highlights, I use my white Gelly Roll pen. My card is 5" X 7" in size.

To make this 5" X 7" card, I die cut the sewing machine and its table from light aqua blue, brown and kraft cardstock. I assembled the pieces and added some white detailing using my white gel pen on the Kraft pieces of the table. I also added a dark aqua on the sewing machine to make the machine's design stand out a bit more. The thread and spool were cut from white cardstock and the thread was colored pink. I used Copic Markers B00, B02, RV55 and RV10 for the coloring.
Using the Lovely Layers: Stitching Elements Honey Cuts dies, I cut two pieces of "fabric" using pattern paper and the sweet little zigzag-edged swatch in the die set. I also die cut four pattern hearts using the In Stitches: Heart Honey Cuts dies, Happy Hearts Gingham Paper Pad and another pad similar to the Happy Hearts Pattern Paper Pad. I sewed the hearts together using my sewing machine and white thread. I purposely kept the strings hanging from both ends for interest. I also stitched together the two swatches shown under the machine's needle. If you don't have a sewing machine, no worries! Create hand stitching or faux stitching lines instead. My black stitching was all done with a fine-tip marker! I do this on my cards, all of the time!
To create the "sewing room" back wall, I used a piece of the FREE BEE pattern paper for the top half of the wall's "wallpaper" and then added strips of white cardstock 1/2" thick vertically for wainscotting and one horizontal at the top. I attached all the elements to the wall, using foam tabs behind the string of hearts and the sewing machine.
I needed something to ground the machine in the scene, so I hand drew a brown, oval rug and slipped it under the machine's legs. I used brown cardstock, a darker brown marker and a white gel pen to created the braided rug design and fussy cut it out. Lastly, I stamped and attached the sentiment above the string of hearts using the Sew Glad stamp set and coordinating Honey Cuts dies.
