"Hey, Love Bug" Greeting by Bobbi Lemanski

"Hey, Love Bug" Greeting by Bobbi Lemanski - Honey Bee Stamps

"Love Bug," - a term of endearment used to describe someone affectionate, lovable, or beloved, often applied to romantic partners, children, or pets (AI generated definition) I call my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel my "Love Bug." Today's card celebrates this endearing nickname with a cute VW "bug" car.

I used the following Honey Bee Stamps products to create this card:

Lovely Layer: Vintage Bug Honey Cuts Stand Alone Dies

Love Bug Hot Foil Plate and Letter Press Plate Honey Cuts Dies

Lovely Layers: Hammock Honey Cuts Stand Alone Dies

For the basics... my Honey Bee Stamps featured project below is made from Neenah 80lb Solar White cardstock for the card base and card front panel. All of the black ink stamping was done using Honey Bee’s Bee Creative Intense Black Ink. I use Honey Bee Stamps Bee Creative Precision Glue and for when I want more dimension, Bee Creative Foam Dots With Tab for adhering my elements together. My blender brushes (large and small) are a must for ink blending color on the background, too. For white highlights, I use my white Gelly Roll pen. My card is 5" X 7" in size.

To create the background for this 5" X 7" card, I cut a piece of light aqua cardstock 5" wide X 5.5" tall and blended in some Distress Oxide Ink in Broken China for clouds. I hand cut a 5" wide hilly landscape from a green grass colored cardstock. I blended on Mowed Lawn Ink on the top edge to create a varied look. I added some dots in white and a darker green (YG67 Copic Marker) to the hill for a grassy look.

Using the Lovely Layers: Hammock Honey Cuts Stand Alone Dies, I die cut three palm trees from kraft cardstock (trunk) and green cardstock (fronds) and assembled them together. I did add a darker green ink on the fronds using the Mow Lawn ink used on the hill. I attached the trees to the scene. and the entire scene background to an A7 white card base.  I added a black cardstock strip 5" wide X 1/2" tall right below the hill scene. I glued on 1/4" wide dashes cut from yellow cardstock for the painted road strip.

I die cut and assembled the vintage car using the Lovely Layer: Vintage Bug Honey Cuts Stand Alone Dies. I used a bright yellow cardstock and toned it down using Mustard Seed Distress Oxide Ink. I also used black, red and silver for the additional pieces. I attached the card to the scene with foam tabs, letting the wheels rest on the black strip road.

Using my Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil System, rainbow foil (similar to the Rainbow Confetti here), and the Love Bug Hot Foil Plate and Letter Press Plate Honey Cuts Dies, I foiled and die cut the "Hey Love Bug" words. I attached the words to the card using foam tabs to make them stand out. I added a faux "string" using a fine-tip black marker to the "hey" word as if it is hanging from a string between two palm trees. I put the "love" word on a "billboard" sign with legs mounted on the hill, similar to the Hollywood sign in Hollywood, CA. I attached it with foam tabs. For the "bug" word, I attached it with foam tabs in the white space below the road. This card is ready for a love bug!

Here's another card I made using the van and the same "love bug" set. You can learn all the details here, on the blog.

I made this card featuring the same Lovely Layer: Vintage Bug Honey Cuts Stand Alone Dies, and the Lovely Layers: Tool Box Mechanics Add-On Stand Alone Dies, Well Played, Sir stamps and coordinating dies and 3D Gears Embossing Folder.
